Thank you, Matthew, for your support in designing this website.

Matthew is on his way to a Master's degree and is a wonderful example of what courage and determination can achieve.

Welcome to “No Worries!”

Anxiety and School Phobia Self-help.

Welcome to our lifeline for school related anxiety, school phobia, building self-esteem and confidence.

We offer advice and strategies (new and different ways of managing) for the situations below and more, in our forthcoming book “Please Don’t Make Me Go to School” (provisional title).

For those needing immediate help there are some extracts here on our website to get you started. There are also links to websites and organisations that also offer help with these kinds of problems.

Do you recognise yourself in any of the following? (Or your child, if you are a parent reading this)

Are you…?

..Extremely sensitive to hurtful remarks by parents, carers, angry teachers and bullies

..Not feeling good about yourself or really disliking yourself

..Feeling very unsure and self- conscious most of the time; but especially among people of your own age.

..Hating having attention drawn to you and perhaps because of this, things like reading aloud, asking to use the toilet or having marks read out in front of the class are horrifying and make you dread school.

..Worrying about facing the school day so much that sleeping has become

difficult.

..Missing days at school because of minor illnesses then feeling more stressed when you have to return

..Feeling that you should be able to do everything well

..Fearing letting yourself or others down

..Becoming quieter and more isolated and feeling there is

no one left that you can trust (except perhaps a parent

who you may not feel able to let out of your sight)

..Bright, caring and sensitive and unable to

understand why others behave unpleasantly towards you

..Suffering awful symptoms of anxiety; shaking, sweating, crying, tummy pains, chest pains, dizziness, headaches e.t.c. for which the doctor can find no physical cause

If you do recognise any or all of this in yourself, the help we can offer is definitely for you

If you do not recognise yourself in any of this but never the less have difficulties, it may still help to read on.
